On a sunny afternoon, twenty enthusiastic students gathered at the Central Library in Mississauga for an engaging hands-on workshop on DNA extraction from strawberries. Armed with household items like soap, salt, and rubbing alcohol, the young scientists eagerly followed the instructions. The excitement was palpable as they mashed the strawberries, mixed in the soap to break down cell membranes, and used salt to help the DNA precipitate. The highlight was the addition of cold rubbing alcohol, which caused the DNA to clump together and become visible.
